First things first: If your NT server can access your AS/400 and the NT server is connected to the Internet, then your AS/400 is connected to the Internet no matter how it's connected to the NT server. 2nd thing: You cannot use a dummy IP address on the 400 if the NT server is Internet accessible. You have to use one within your assigned network range. If a dummy IP address is used, the router will send the tcp/ip packets to the outside world to die and your AS/400 will never see them. I wish to run TCP/IP between my NT server and my AS/400. The NT server will be connected to the Internet. I have no need/desire to make the AS/400 accessible or visible to the Internet. Can I still use a dummy IP address on the 400 ? Will this cause a problem ? Is this a secure solution or should I consider some other method? BTW, this post is not meant to invite questions as to why I have an NT Server. I just do. +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
