Hmmmm, the nit should be taken up with IBM, ref: Distributed Relation
Database Architecture - Connectivity Guide, SC26-4783-03 where they
reference CPI as Communications Program Interface Side Information;
however what you say rings very familiar, like I have heard it in class
over and over again and I must admit that I believe you are correct!

Programming
Interface Communications'.
