We used to be strictly a Rumba shop but we are gradually moving some
people to CA. The
main reason we are is simple cost. About 1/2 of our users "just need to
connect to the 400"
and CA does that, essentially for free. What Rumba has and is still
providing is a quick
local printing solution when a printer is not on the network. CA
doesn't have the ability to
create a "Printing Session" that will print from the 400 to your local
printer w/o TCP/IP.
This is nice because we have some field offices and this is an easy
solution.
Stable connectivity was sometimes an issue in early version of Rumba and
many blame
them using their own router engine instead of stable, existing ones. We
have had some
problems but fairly limited. Current versions of Rumba also has fairly
powerful "Data Access"
module that allows you to do some SQL queries and download files
quickly. Our power
users have found this helpful.
We still use both and probably will for some time. If your just
connecting, CA is your best bet
plus it is the cheapest solution by far.
