Check out the February 1998 Midrange Computing.
Cover feature "YEAR 2000".
There is at least one article about creating your own tool for
data aging and a number of adds throughout.

So far the tools I've looked at, most are not nearly as sophisticated as
those
in the mainframe arena, but most haven't been around as long either.

I'm expecting to make my own.
