IPCS compared to external PC server. -- MIDRANGE-L

What are the advantages and disadvantages of installing a IPCS in the
AS/400 as compared to installing an external PC server to be used as a
gateway to the AS/400?

Also, it is my understanding the IBM will announce the availability of
NT on the IPCS in the February annoucements.  Will NT run on the current
IPCS hardware or is new or upgraded hardware going to be required to run
NT?
