Lantastic/LanServer via single NIC -- MIDRANGE-L

We have a setup that I would like to improve.

We have a 5-node Lantastic LAN.  Those 5 PC's run DOS 6.22.  The 5 PC's
also have twinax cards for AS/400 access.  We have a 300-2042 with an
FSIOP running LanServer.  Can I eliminate the the twinax cards in each
of those PC's and have both LAN and AS/400 access via the ethernet
cards?  Anybody doing that?

It seems to me that this is one of the things the FSIOP was made for. 
It seems simple enough that it ought to work, but these things never
seem to pan out that way. <g>
