Opti-Connect is neither simple to configure, nor run.  Although you set it
up once, as your system changes (workloads, relative sizes of files etc.)
it must be constantly tuned.  

Opti-Connect was a band-aid solution when we couldn't get CISC processors
to scale past the 177.4 CPW limitation of the F97.

I suggest that you upgrade the 530, and combine the load onto one platform.

BTW, Opti-Connect itself has a lot of overhead.  It is plausible that
connecting it to a system as small as a 500 will consume too much of the
500 to be cost effective
