John:

I had to write a transfer via "Supertracs" to a bank, and found
that we couldn't get the block size for the transmission over 1 record per
block. You need to get a Bisync capable modem with v.25Bis dialing. We
got a Hayes external modem, which I had ot re-program with a PC before
puting it to use. In order to have the AS/400 do the V.25Bis dialing, the
modem manual told you to configure the modem as if it was using SDLC; which
I did even though the modem had bisync settings.

The institution I was dealing with for credit card processing had a
sample RPG program, which also had line, controller, and device
descriptions. You may wish to ask if you can get something similar. The
example was an older one, but it was easy enough to use it as example to
write an equivalent ILE program.

                                Best of Luck,
                                L. Paul Andralouis
