It does work if you define separate variables for different libraries and put the variables as values for the list parameter SAVLIB LIB(&LIB1 &LIB2 &LIB3) ............. Concatenation of the variables SAVLIB LIB(&LIB1 *CAT &LIB2 *CAT &LIB3). . . . . . . . . . . gives the same function check Amit owner-midrange-l@midrange.com on 01/16/98 12:32:46 AM Please respond to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com @ Internet To: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com @ Internet cc: Subject: Re: More automated backup At 04:02 AM 1/15/98 +0000, Loyd Goodbar wrote: >CHGVAR VAR(&LIBLIST) VALUE('APCUST GLCUST HRCUST') >SAVLIB LIB(&LIBLST) DEV(TAP01) SAVACT(*LIB) + > ACCPTH(*YES) OUTPUT(*PRINT) INFTYPE(*LIB) >... > >I get a function check. Looking at the job log, I see something like >SAVLIB LIB('APCUST GLCUST HRCUST') DEV(TAP01)... Loyd, You're trying to plug a single variable into a list. Why not just plug constants into the command? You could define a separate variable for each library, or you could concatenate the whole command into a single alpha variable and pass it to QCMDEXC, which will parse it back into its constituent parts before executing the command.
