Gary, A tape contains Volume Labels, HDR1/HDR2 File Labes, Data, and TRL1/TRL2 file labels for each "File" on the tabe. If you can estimate what number file you need you may be able to use BLP (Bypass Label Processing) to get to the "File/Object" you need to process. Also, look at NL (Non Labeled) tape processing as a way to FSF, (Forward Space File) position the tape and copy/read the data into a save file or something.. Good Luck, JMS...
