It seems that for the last few days NYC media Radio TV and press have been running Y2K matters on every broadcast. One of the prime areas is the credit cards with 01/00 expirations dates failing. One favorite running TV clip shows a sign at the cash register YEAR2000 ....... then ATM machines as a dilemmas and on it goes explaining the programmers plight or delight.:>(. A long radio segment went into remediation efforts as easy but large not just "old" COBOL but all computer programs. Discussed embedded chips as examples, dismissed PCs[ home] as not effected for the most part <Hum ?>. Had some mistakes but a valiant effort wonderful start. The heavier coverage, I hope, will not go away after the New Years WeekEnd. Could this be the real begriming of a wake up call to society? Now if business would follow suit perhaps we have a better chance & richer completion of projects.
