If you are trying to determine the subsystem for a currently active job, use the QUSRJOBI API, Format JOBI0600. Subsystem name & Library are in bytes 71-90 of the JOBI0600 format. See 89-33 in the System API Reference manual SC41-4801-01 (Version 3).
