While the rest of what you said really hadn't given me a reason that indicated to me why this particular company would turn to VisualAge Generator (although the product sounds great), the part about generating for AIX does. This companies primary competitor is a Unix product, they hired someone from their competition who had a Unix push going on. I guess that his influence of the last years has pushed them to consider it. VisualAge Generator allows them to look at the Unix market as well as the AS/400 one.
