If you have an ILE language then I would call the CEERAN0 API. It takes two parms, a seed value (pass a zero) and a float where it returns a random number between 0 and 1 exclusive. So if you want a random number between 1 and 99999 simply multiply the return value by 100000 and you're all set. -Walden -----Original Message----- From: mcsnet!midrange.com!midrange-l-owner@Mcs.Net [mailto:mcsnet!midrange.com!midrange-l-owner@Mcs.Net]On Behalf Of boothm@ibm.net Sent: Wednesday, December 17, 1997 7:41 PM To: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com Subject: re: Random Number generator I need to generate a random 5-digit number on an AS/400.
