Thanks for the nice reply. I'm sorry for the delay in responding. Been a bit busy with a banking takeover problem here. You are right. ISPs don't know anything about AS/400. I simply stopped using the term. However, they also don't know about much else. I would guess that 90% of them are now in the business model of selling connections with the option of providing Web-space hosting. PPP and SLIP for connection of your server are fast becoming niche markets - probably at a lower profit level. So, as a result, I had to wade through layers of sales people before they could connect me with a technical person who could answer whether or not they even provided the service! Astonishing.
