I just wanted everyone to know that we just finished installing a new 620-2180 As/400 over the weekend.. that baby is screamin' !! I have one manager/director that still says the screens are moving fast enough... but I observed today and if it moves any faster, the 400 is reading the users' mind !! The machine came just in time because my old 310, or maybe it was the 310 was upset it was being replaced, but I had damaged objects up the ying-yang !! The process was long and tedious, since we did a "replace" . The restore of my user libraries alone took 5 hours ! Thank God I had a TV and VCR at my disposal so I was able to watch movies..... during those long wait periods ! We started around 2 am(Saturday) starting the save entire system etc, and we save our outq's too (since the users' refused to delete spool files)... we had our admitting department back on by 10 am on Sunday. We ran into a few snags here and there with some libraries not being restored totally, and some confusion with that stupid workstation controller changes (Thank you IBM... NOT) but we are very pleased with the installation and performance. I'm happy and here's my New Year's Resolution... I, Joanie Clark, being of sound mind (?) hereby promised that in 1998 I will faithfully load PTF's !! LOL !!!! At least quarterly ! (I know I'm giong to regret this, but it beats saying I'm going to loose 10 pounds ! ) MERRY CHRISTMAS TO EVERYONE, AND HAPPY NEW YEAR !!
