>>>I would like to read a AS/400 data base file and "Drop" that info straight >>>into an Excel .XLS >>>type file. (I know what you're gonna say, Good luck). John -- Let's step back and look at what you _really_ want to accomplish. If you want some data to appear in an Excel spreadsheet, then it is NOT necessary to create an Excel spreadsheet from AS/400 data. Simply write the AS/400 data to a comma-delimited or even a fixed-format text file. Then, you can create an Excel spreadsheet on the PC that Query's the data. When you open the spreadsheet, simply refresh the Query. Done. If you REALLY want to create a spreadsheet, you can write to one of two VERY easy-to-use formats: SYLK and DIF. SYLK (SYmbolic LinK) is from the old Multiplan days -- the predecessor to Excel. It's quite easy to use, and even allows you to link spreadsheets. DIF (Data Interchange Format) is, I believe, a standard introduced by Lotus. In any event, it's also easy to use. Excel will automagically recognize these formats.
