>Who was that guy that said "Follow the Roadmap, Follow the Roadmap, Follow >the Roadmap"? > >Al Who, ME?? One of the biggest problems we had with running a RCLSTG is that NO ONE can estimate how long it will take. I think the last time we ran one may have been back on the S/38... Back then it took the better part of a weekend, time we can't afford to keep the users away from the system. Now, of course, we are working towards a MIMIX solution that will allow us to bump the users off of the system for part of a weekend to allow us to do RCLSTG and install cume tapes and all sorts of maintenance functions that we just don't have the time to do without impacting the production schedule. Yes, I know, these things have to be done. And we do our cume tapes at least quarterly (and strays as we find 'em). But with the possibility of a RCLSTG taking a day or more, we couldn't take the risk that the machine wouldn't be back up on Monday (let alone Saturday night). With that spectre hanging over our heads, and with our operations group being fanatical about checking our backups for damaged objects, we judged that we wouldn't have any problems with damaged objects. --Paul E Musselman PaulMmn@ix.netcom.com +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to "MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com". | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
