Dave, 

Your author was oversimplifying.  While this is true on a factory default
system, and to the novice it appears to be automagic, your QSTRUPPGM program
is really in control of the process.  If you've changed the QSTRUPPGM, your
version of that program will run when the controlling subsystem is started.
