I think that async dialup is less important with the increased use of
TCP/IP. You can set up a TCP/IP Client Access connection through your
Internet service provider—works like a charm. With the improved
functionality for printing and device naming that's on the way, we'll have
everything we love from the good old days.

Even as it is, installing an LPD on your home PC, and creating a remote
outq that points to it, takes care of most of the printing issue, too. I
recommend Remote Print Manager, from Brooks <http://www.brooksnet.com>.
