Tim, You could successfully use either technique. I would probably use the SFLCLR followed by writes one screen at a time. When you run out of database records just keep throwing out blank lines in response to Page Down (Roll Up). Also consider having the sequence numbers and an extra copy of the text as hidden fields. That way you should be able to keep your database updates restricted to new or genuinely changed (not just over-keyed) lines. A common source of problems in this kind of routine is blank lines within the text body, so you will want to consider carefully how you are going to handle them. E.g. how will you handle it if you start with 3 text lines and the user tabs down to line 7 and keys some new stuff? It would be nice if your software could handle having records 4, 5 and 6 absent from the data base, but still respect the line spacing. It would also be nice to allow the user to insert, move, copy and delete lines if you can handle that too.
