After varying the comm objects on could you add logic to check the status
of the
LIND/CTLD?  I use this for some programs I have.  There may be a better
way.

1.) Vary on objects
2.) Check status of required devices (RTVCFGSTS) - if not valid wait xx
seconds, retry 3 times,
if not at valid status stop/cancel.
3.) If valid status move to next logic step

The problem with this approach is it's not event driven (have call failure
generate
some sort of action) but that is kind of the nature of the vary command in
normal
operations.  The APING command might have some benefits of RTVCFGSTS but
I'm not sure.
