APPC File Transfer

I have two AS/400 systems that need to do file transfer 2 or 3 times a
night.  I have a LINE/CTL/APPCDEV defined on each system.  I can
passthru and do file transfer fine.

My problem occurs when the called number is busy.

A batch job varies on the line, then uses DDM to transfer records from
the file.  QSYSOPR gets a message controller not contacted, and my batch
job hangs.  I can't monitor for the message in my CLP until someone
answers the message in QSYSOPR.

I've had some success with reply list entries, but I would like to know
if there is a better way.
