regarding the tape. One of my cliient's is using Robot Corral. We define a set of rules, and Corral offloads the files meeting our rules to tape.

Here is the neat part. If OS/400 requests the file, an Exit Point Program is used to retrieve the file and then allow the OS to acces it. The OS never knows that the file didn't reside on the system! No error messages to answer, jobs to restart, etc.

Corral uses Exit Points provided by IBM. I believe these particular Exit Points were added in V3R7 on the RISC boxes. I am not sure about availability on CISC as all my current clients are RISC. You could write your own utility utiliziing these same exit points.

There are some functions we perform now that I am not sure how we
will be able to do on the AS/400. For example, we have a product
called DFHSM, which migrates files to tape if they have been unused
for a given length of time. Is there a facility to do this on an
AS/400? Also, how do you handle report distribution? We presently
have a product called INFOPAC (from Mobius) that handles this.

Thanks much for your help.
