If you create a data structure in your program with your screen fields (QN001,
QN002...) overlaying the same area as your array, you won't need to MOVE the
data:

D DataStruc DS
D QN 30 DIM(6)
D QN001 30 OVERLAY(QN: 1)
D QN002 30 OVERLAY(QN: 31)
D QN003 30 OVERLAY(QN: 61)
D QN004 30 OVERLAY(QN: 91)
D QN005 30 OVERLAY(QN:121)
D QN006 30 OVERLAY(QN:151)

(The same can be accomplished in RPG-III by specifying starting/ending
locations).

Whenever you change QN001, you will have also changed QN,1, and vice-versa.

Hope this helps,

Subject: RPG400 SDA query?

Hi all,
I am building a AS400 SDA screen and on this screen I am going to have
an array (6 elements / 30 characters each) displayed. Well wanting to
take advantage of the EXFMT opcode to write my screen, I am not able to
give any of my SDA screen fields names like this -- QN,1 or QN,2.. I
have a hard time believing that I must still do a MOVE of the array
elements into the hard named screen names like this:
MOVE QN,1 QN001
MOVE QN,2 QN002
Etc....
Any suggestions to this former S36'er appreciated.
