Getting data off the 36 environment -- MIDRANGE-L

We have a client with a e model on V4R1 running the 36 environment.  We 
need to get some data files off of it, but for the life of me, I can't find 
the data files using any conventional 400 facility.  Is this setup in a 
virtual machine that can't be seen from the standard 400?  I have dealt 
with the 36 environment before and have not had that problem.  All I want 
to do is copy some files so that we can convert them.   Any assistance 
would be greatly appreciated.
