I would bet that if you look at the object description for an object in
QRPLOBJ that used to be in ASP 2 (or 3, 4, etc) you would see the object is
still in that ASP. The machine I'm on right now does not have ASPs (other
than 1) so I can't check.

All IBM is doing is removing the entry for the old object from the library
description and putting it in QRPLOBJ. This leaves the object at the same
address and therefore allows the users that already have resolved system
pointers to it to continue to run it.

However, I would note that objects are moved to QRPLOBJ when you specify
replace(*yes) regardless of their current usage. IBM has no way of knowing
if the program is in use so it is ALWAYS moved to QRPLOBJ. Make sure you
clear out this library on your own if you do not IPL often.

I don't recommend that anyone do that regularly, however. If in use, a
copy is created in QRPLOBJ, the linkage is transferred to the new
object, and users go on their merry way, completely unawares. They'll
use the old version until they leave their own invocation of it.

'Linkage Transferred,' huh? That would explain how IBM can 'cheat'
and end up with an object in QRPLOBJ from -any- ASP. I thought they
just 'cheated' and allowed a MOVOBJ between ASPs...
