I agree that modifying code to debug it is ridiculous, however the programmer at IBM that wrote STRISDB seems to disagree. To use ISDB on a job that job must be ACTIVE. Therefore, we have all come up with these odd ways to use ISDB on batch jobs. There was an article on using ISBD with batch jobs in a recent News400 or Midrange Computing article -- some time in the past 6 months. The steps involved using routing data and routing programs to enable debugging w/o modifying the target programs. -Walden -----Original Message----- From: Glenn Gundermann [SMTP:ggundermann@ibm.net] Sent: Friday, September 26, 1997 4:46 PM To: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com Subject: Re: Batch Debug Rediculous. Who ever heard of modifying code to run debug on it? Just submit the job on hold or put the job queue on hold. Start the debugger and then start the job. The rest will be intuitive. >The easiest way is to inbed a "DLYJOB DLY(<# of seconds>)" at the >beginning of the CL with enough time for you to bring the debugger >up. _/_/_/_/ _/ _/_/_/_/ _/_/ _/ _/_/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/_/ _/ _/_/_/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/_/_/_/ _/_/_/_/ _/_/_/_/ _/ _/_/ _/ _/_/ Glenn Gundermann ggundermann@ibm.net work tel: (416) 967-8222 cel: (416) 409-4551 +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to "MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com". | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MAJORDOMO@midrange.com | and specify 'unsubscribe MIDRANGE-L' in the body of your message. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +--- umidr +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to "MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com". | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MAJORDOMO@midrange.com | and specify 'unsubscribe MIDRANGE-L' in the body of your message. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
