Thanks to everyone who replied to my e-mail post. They all helped quite a bit in my quest to at least have a policy. My boss thinks I may be worried a bit too much about things... but you know that when push comes to shove, and something happens, he'll blame it on me !! As for the sign of the times.... it is a shame that we all have to worry about "offending" someone. I live in Ohio and just recently Miami University (Oxford, OH) had to change their mascot because it referred to a group of ethnic people. My hometown uses "Redskins" as their mascot as well. In my days (and it was 20+ years ago) it was suppose to be an honor, not something we used to "slam" those individuals heritage. Even today I see no hint of the community making fun of those individuals. When men and women have to watch every word they say so they can avoid sexual harrassment charges, is a shame. When an employer has to be so careful of the questions he asks a potential employee to avoid a discrimination suit is so absurd. I know we have some unethical people, and like everything else, laws are there for the small % of people, it sure makes our lives difficult. I could go on and on.. I need a discussion group to vent about another topic, but that's way off the Midrange topic.. Again, thanks, I've got a 2 page draft of a policy that I'll show my boss and let it go up the ranks. I'll have all of your responses in hand when they want to know "what everybody else it doing, or thinks" have a great weekend !!
