Tim, have you actually tried it and had it fail?  I think it'll work just
the same with externally described files.  You'd still need the "IFile   
**" and the look-ahead fields, but you won't need the From & To fields.

As to a more current technique...  why are you looking ahead? To find out
if something is about to change?  If so, can you just condition the Calc
lines on DOWxx or a DOUxx?
