Tim, you're re-inventing the wheel. Whatever routines you write, and however cool the code, I guarantee you they've all been done many, many times before. Between March and June 1990 News/400 published a series of articles by Paul Conte and Sarah Peters entitled "The Last Date Routines You'll Ever Need". These provided code for just about everything you could want to do with dates from 1/1/1 to 12/31/9999, and even took the missing days from the Gregorian calendar reform into account. I strongly advise you to take a look at these before you spend much more of your valuable time on this project.
