Glenn, I believe your points are exactly the reason we programmers will get into trouble if we try to use intuition and logic to suggest YYYY dates to users. The screw-ups, special training, and over-ride commands will eat us alive. We are fast approaching the start of the Y2K Death March; we'll do better to get Y2K compliant and then go back and remediate the production problems that users complain about. Afterwards. on 09/15/97 at 01:23 AM, Glenn Ericson <Glenn-Ericson@att.net> said: Even 80/20 logic could be applied in many cases from the screen and a full 4 digit year in the database for all the related niceties that brings. (You could use screen and report interchangeably for out put ) An interesting anomalies comes up when you talk D_O_B with the AS/400 system >40 fixed window technique. Say you are born in 1939, if you let the system decide it will say what ? 2039 ?
