It's probably not you process that causing any troubles but rather the browser is reformatting the text according to its own idea of the content. HTML is more of a content description scheme than a layout scheme, and unless you explicitly tell browser to leave text they way it comes in with a <pre>(formatted) tag, lines will be wrapped where convenient for the browser, the existance but not amount of whitespace will be preserved. If you're trying to create an image, do it with a graphics package. Peter H.
