I don't think you should design based on what CL can or can't do, Its highest level of logic control is the GOTO. (by the way Jon, if you're listening, You are going to love my Sound-Off question) Back to my primary point; I bet you will have your current files looooo oooonnnngggg past the time that IBM gives us Display & Printer file support. I mean lets say you didn't use dates because of display files & printer files, You will have those files long past the time when that inconvience was corrected (and any performance problems).
