If you really want to use a MOVEL instead of a Z-ADD, use a P in the
half-adjust column to pad the field with blanks.

    C                    MOVELX$YYYY    HDYTST  80P    

My guess is you have HDYTST defined in a data structure.  Remember, numeric
fields in a data structure are initialized to blanks unless you use an IDS
instead of a DS for the data structure.  Or define the field using an I I in
columns 6-8.
