Dear Pat, Personal Communications uses APPC communication (LU 6.2) to communicate with the AS/400. The IBM 5394 and 5494 can definitely handle this type of communication without problem. About 8 years ago I was working at a company with 300 terminals and printers that were remote to a series of AS/400 hosts. We serviced these devices mostly with 5294's and only a couple of 5394's at the time. We were told then that APPC communications required a 5394 controller. I don't know whether this was a limitation of the 5294 control unit or the knowledge we had about 5294's inside the company. /Paul -- Paul Tykodi, Technical Director E-mail: pault@praim.com Praim Inc.
