The command to access this is probably "IRC"... although it might be IIRC. You probably don't need any command line parms, as most ISP's setup a default IRC server. Most of the GUI based IRC client programs are far easier to use, as text based IRC clients have a lot of cryptic commands that are pretty hard (IMHO) to use. I've never gotten the hang of text based IRC. I far prefer the GUI's. IMHO, MS Chat 2.1 b1 is quite a good program for chatting. It provides both a plaintext interface as well as a "Comic Strip" interface (that's hilarious... you should have seen some of the characters assigned). If you are chatting with MS Chat, you get to pick your own character... if not, MS Chat assigns a random one. MS Chat is, of course, only available for Win95 systems presently. (Obligitory AS400 reference) To my knowledge, there is no IRC client's available for the '400... but some enterprising developer might be able to take a GNU IRC client and port it. Since it's strictly text based, there should be no UI problems.
