Here's a story...

A customer of mine purchased from a broker 2 internal units for her
9404.
they came in the "shoebox" and were installed. Later review of errorlogs
and talking to the customer performance was terrible. Errorlogs were
full
different types of interface/timeout errors.

When we opened the box up we found the brackets had been re-drilled and
"PC" drives had been installed. After some phone calls etc that broker
provided drives for a 400. We installed these and no more errors and
performance was no longer an issue.

Other than in a very busy PC Server nothing beats-up a disk like a
SYS/38
or AS/400. PC drives(read less expensive) just don't hold up or perform
the same.
