I'd be interested in other people's answers too.

I've just finished a project with telecommuting. I dialed in over a
regular line, using 3164 Emulataor from PSI. At first the line costs
bothered me, but then I realized that the rate was under $10/hour, which
was reasonable, in relation to other costs.

I have a 14,400 modem, and that seemed fast enough. Not fast, but fast
enough.

I was hoping to use the Code/400 editor but the client hasn't evaluated
the package yet so that was not a choice.

Pros for the client that I can think of:
The project is done, under budget and on time.
    It meets his expectations.
His regular staff was available for regular work.
Work was off-loaded from his regular work day as I worked off-shift on his
project.
The learning curve for me was relatively short because the projects were
pretty tightly defined and there was no expectation of having to teach me
company culture and policies.
When the project was done, I was done. There are no on-going costs.

Folks:

I'm interested in peoples experiences with Telecommuting for AS400
developers.

Has anyone tried using a VPN via the Internet to folks homes?

Is a 28.8/33.6 dialup connection enough for a developer to be effective?
Is an offline source editor necessary?

TIA!
