Hello Viv, > We restored an 8Gb library on a 50S #2122 @ V3R7M0 using an 8mm > cart. formatted to *FMT5GB and data saved @ V3R1M0. This restore > took 5 hours without access paths and 15 hours with access paths. I assume that the logical files have to be changed from CISC to RISC, this might occur for every byte? I don't know it actually, but this might explain this behaviour. If you restore without access paths the system has to rebuild the access path which is faster at a RISC machine. The changing from CISC to RISC is only a small portion, 'cause the logical file is empty in this case. So the overall performance is better. I hope this was right Chris calling from Kassel, Germany * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * This is the Midrange System Mailing List!
