Cheapo 10MG Ethernet cards can be got for about US$20 (yes twenty).

100MG you may have to spend 5 to 10 times as much ($100 - $200).

Some prices from Data Comm Warehouse catalog (1-800-328-2261. I am just
a customer.) http://www.microwarehouse.com/
Also, check out TruCost http://www.trucost.com/

3Com Etherlink iii $58
Intel Pro/100 $60
Addtron 10/100 $30
Addtron 10BaseT $18
3Com 10/100XL $76

Also you will need a hub 8port 10BaseT hub $60.

You need ethernet feature on the AS/400 ($$$$) and a transceiver to get
AUI port to 10BaseT ($25).

You need repeaters/more hubs if you exceed 300ft.

You need RJ45 data cables ($40 - 100ft).

Lot of elbow grease :-) Pain in the butt to get these to work ok.
Give ample time for the fight with the pcs (they somehow know that you
are going to make them lose their independence !) and cabling. AS/400
will be a breeze, stick the card, and reipl. Create the Etherline
descn, TCPCFG if you need tcp and you are done.
