Tim,

Sounds like you are looking for "Change Management" software..  There
is a ton of option out there for this function...anywhere from IBM to third
party...  I have used Silvon's Implementer for years and have had good
luck with it.  I have also written my own little systems but then sit back
and ask why???  These packages are not that expensive and give you all
the function you are looking for and more... reporting of changes,roll
back, multiple level archives and cross box change control...  If your shop
is looking for this type of function,  GREAT ..  buy a nice package and
make the IS auditors happy..
