AS/400 Guru's

I've used these commands to load a file from the PC to the AS/400, but
because of the translation between ASCII and EBCDIC I always write a quick
and dirty RPG to recalculate the packed fields in the file.

Using the GUI menu for client access on my PC, I was able to download a
file from the 400 to an Excel Spreadsheet. For conversion purposes I want
to upload that back to the 400. I dont seem to be able to get this to work.
I am under the impression that this process will convert the ASCII to
EBCDIC on the upload. This would eliminate the need to have a program to
calculate the packed fields. What am I missing? Any information whether
resource or solution would be appreciated.

TIA
