CPF Release 4.1 early ship for color, and I found this very annoying.  The
developers tried to make the existing attributes map into something, and
they did a fairly good job of that, but the dots (aka column seperators),
which were the norm on S/36, was put in place for those customers.

In the COMMON library, there is a command DSPCOLOR, which shows how all of
the display attributes map into colors. (The same command is also in the
old S/38 LISUG library.)  I wrote it when trying to figure out how to deal
with colors.
