You need OPNQRYF...ALWCPYDTA(*YES).

Yesterday, I was trying to use an OPNQRYF statement that joins 2 files   
and
use a field out of the second file as the key. I wasn't able to get this   
w
ork. I'm on V3R1 now. I think I was able to do this though at a past   
site. It
was a year or 2 ago and the operating system could have been anything f
rom V3R0M5 up to V3R6. Is my memory faulty here or can this be done on   
some
versions of OS/400?
