This is an announcement that may be of interest to many of the readers of
this list. I read the recent 'rules of the list', and I think (hope) that
I am within the boundaries of the rules to post this information. If not,
please let me know and I won't bother you again.

My company has developed a purging and archiving tool for the AS/400 that
purges and archives data _without programming_. This tool has several
advantages, among them:

        - no programming is required
        - can be used to add archiving to existing purge routines without
changing
the purge programs
        - purging can be run while users are on line
        - archiving runs independent of the production system, after the
purge is
complete
        - provides a consistent purge interface
        - automatically creates an archive library, without requiring the
original
file source code

There's more... but check my web site (listed below).

This tool set has been successfully used by MACPAC and BPCS sites. MACPAC
sites like it because it easily adds archiving to the existing purge
routines, which are extensive. BPCS sites like it because it provides a
consistent purge user interface, and allows easy purging where there
previously was nothing.
