We have had GREAT success  with our C/S applications.  I don't know about
LDA, because we avoided using it (as it is proprietary to IBM).  We don't use
Delphi.  Instead of ODBC, we use ESS/400 which is an APPC connect product and
MUCH faster than ODBC (you can reach them at www.ess400.com).

Our applications are written in Visual Basic using ESS/400 as the
connectivity tool.

Not necessarily.  You really need to write a user exit program that can be
applied using CHGNETA and other means.  Examples are available on soft-copy,
and I suggest that you read all references.
