Let's get this straight. I said this product was good, not God. It
requires source for sure.

For the IBM strategy, there are three pieces.

Part 1, a PTF that analyzes source/object integrity. It's been promised
'next month' for the last several months. Supposedly it was released last
week, but my calls to Rochester (the guy that used to polish Mr. Benny's
car) have not been returned. Free. Not sure about S/36, but I think so.

Part 2, a database analizer, that searches for date fields. Reportedly to
be delivered in the third quarter, but this might be tight. Cheap (e.g.:
$500 to $1000). This will produce outfiles that feed BYPASS2000. Also
unsure about S/36, but I think not. My feeling is that it requires
externally defined files, but I'm not sure.

Part 3. BYPASS2000. $6000 to $50,000. Yes, it definitely handles S/36.

We (Barsa Consulting in conjunction with Millenapp) already have a tool
that does all of part 1 and much of part 2, but does not feed BYPASS. We
sell it as a service for $2500 + travel. It basically produces reports
that points you to problems and (rather deamatically) points out to
management how deep the #$%@ is.
