Yes the 436 is an AS/400 - but if you order a 436 you don't get the OS/400 license unless you cough up extra. For the 436 it costs US$3500 extra for the OS/400 ValuePak software (this is processor group P05 - smallest 436 with 2102 processor). Value Pak is US$10,000 for the P10 group (436 with 2104 or 2106 processors). (ValuePak incluses OS/400, Query, SQL & Client Access). For OS/400 alone on the P05 processor it's US$400 for the first user, and US$400 for each additional user (to the maximum charged 5 users for the P05 group). For OS/400 alone on the P10 processor it's US$500 for the first user, and US$400 for each additional user (to the maximum charged 30 users for the P10 group). As for the smallest AS/400 - well these days that would be the model 150 (I'm ignoring the CISC portable). The cheapest model 150 Entry package (32MB memory, 4GB DASD, 2.5GB tape - approx 3.5GB with compression), costs US$ 7995 (don't forget a UPS - the package can come with a BEST Fortress 675va unit for US$ 848), and INCLUDES BasePak software. BasePak includes the following software: OS/400 Version 3 Release 7, AS/400 Client Access, Query for AS/400, DB2 and SQL Development Toolkit for AS/400, Facsimile Support for AS/400 Performance Management/400, PSF/400 fax support, PSF/400 1-to-19 IPM print support and TCP/IP Communication Utility. The following products will also be part of BasePak: Integration Services for Integrated PC Server (formerly known as FSIOP) OS/400 Integration for Novell Netware Integrated BasePak for Lotus Notes -- ...
