I absolutely agree.  We use one indicator as the error indicator and another
indicator for not found/found, etc.  We do not permit an indicator to be
referenced beyond the line of sight in which the indicator is set on or off.
We would expect to see only 2 work indicators (i.e. not used in DSPF or PRTF
DDS) even in a 5,000 line program.  A LOKUP with 3 indicators would be the
only exception in which case the 3rd indicator is only to be used on a 3
indicator LOKUP.

Of course this technique requires you to use primed read loops.
